  2.                            SYSOP INFORMATION
  3.  
  4.         So, you say you're ready to join our family? Great! This step
  5.         is a very important one for you and your users. A professional,
  6.         network for you and an information packed network for your users.
  7.  
  8.         Before we get some information from you, we need to let you know
  9.         about the sysop guidelines for U'NI-net.
  10.  
  11.  
  12. SYSOP GUIDELINES:
  13. ----------------
  14.  
  15.         1)      All Member systems must make mail transfers DAILY, this
  16.                 eliminates old, dry mail and expedites replies.
  17.                 Exceptions can be made for special cases but must be
  18.                 approved by the Network Host and the affected Hub
  19.                 Sysop in advance.
  20.  
  21.         2)      A QWK/REP compatible mail package must be supported on
  22.                 your BBS for network mail transfers.
  23.  
  24.         3)      Every U'NI-net BBS is required to carry conferences:
  25.                 NETNEWS: (Network News/"Read Only". Sysops must read
  26.                 ALL messages.)
  27.                 UNI-NET: (Sysops and Hosts Conference. Sysops must read
  28.                 messages to YOU and ALL).
  29.                 UNI-HOST: (If your system provides conference host(s),
  30.                           this conference is required)
  31.                 UNI-USERS (Allows User to contact Management)
  32.  
  33.                 Not required, but strongly recommended:
  34.  
  35.                 CHITCHAT (General conference, off topic messages are
  36.                           often referred to this area)
  37.  
  38.                 UNI-HELPDESK (Reference desk for questions and
  39.                              Answers)
  40.  
  41.         4)      Sysops must monitor and participate in the ADMIN
  42.                 conference of the Hub to which they are assigned.
  43.                 This conference will contain information necessary to
  44.                 maintain efficiency and keep you advised of any changes
  45.                 in, or additions to procedures.
  46.  
  47.         5)      U'NI-net conferences can not be sold.  Subscription
  48.                 systems are welcome on the network, but there can not
  49.                 be an extra charge over and above the standard
  50.                 subscription rate for access to U'NI-net.

  56. CHANGES:

  59.         Our guidelines are always open to discussion and drafting.
  60.         The stress is always put on making the network easier to
  61.         administer, maximizing efficiency and providing the best
  62.         service possible without getting stuck in bureaucracy.

  65. NETWORK ADMINISTRATION:
  66. ----------------------

  68.         Since the network was started by sysops with experience
  69.         from other networks, you'll see that the administration
  70.         is a compilation of what works best.
  71.  
  72.         Day to day decisions regarding normal operations of the
  73.         network are handles by Network Host Cam Debuck. Major
  74.         decisions are decided by discussion and majority vote of the
  75.         U'NI-net Management Team.

  113.         vote. Sysops or Users who would like to see a change made in
  114.         the way the Network operates should contact a member of the
  115.         Management Team regarding a vote proposal.

  122.         Your netmail software will place a line of information at the
  123.         bottom of each message created at your BBS.  This "tagline"
  124.         includes information about your BBS.

  126.         Please have your BBS tagline for U'NI-net conform to the
  127.         following:

  129.         U'NI-net: <your bbs name> ■ <your city>,<your state>
  130.

  133.      ┌ U'NI┐-net: <─net: MUST be lower case with a colon & space appended

  138.         OPTIONAL: you may also append a "■" (Ascii 254) and the
  139.         telephone number of your BBS if it will fit - see the
  140.         documentation for your mail tosser program for maximum line
  141.         length - Example:

  143.   U'NI-net: <your bbs name> ■ <bbs city>,<bbs state> ■ <bbs phone #>

  145.         Please do not put anything before the word "U'NI-net:" except
  146.         for what your mail tosser might automatically put there.

  148.         If you are not located in the U.S. please include the name of
  149.         your country after your city or province as appropriate.
  150.  
  151.         Please do not use abbreviations that are not well known - LA,
  152.         CA and NY are probably known most places - other abbreviations
  153.         may not be understood outside of your local area.
  154.  
  155.         You may put other information (phone number or email address)
  156.         after your location if you have room, but not at the expense
  157.         of the required information.

  159.         If you do not wish to use the "■" character as a delimiter,
  160.         you may use some other character.
